About Us

Posted by Peter Myers

We are a couple of Lancastrians who finally took the "leap" and moved to Melbourne, Australia in early 2003, giving up our home security, job security and family security.

Why?...You may ask...

Well the simple answer was, we wanted a new challenge, and boy did we get one!

When we arrived in Melbourne we had no friends, no contacts, no home and no school for our boys to attend. We were complete novices, country bumpkins from a small mill town in Lancashire, finding our way in the big cosmopolitain city of Melbourne.

Fast forward now to the present time...

Jill...

Jill has just completed  a four year stint managing two separate retirement villages!
My oh my,  if you thought your job was hard, try doing what Jill did...for 4 years!!
She is currently enjoying a deserved period of "Down time" before tasking on the next challenge.

Jill is the membership secretary at Waverley Camera Club, and an active member of Melbourne Camera Club. We have lots of good friends who we see regularly. In particular, when we first arrived in Melbourne we befriended Chris and Breed, and we still see them both (although separately) regularly, and our good friends Rodelle Keogh and Dave Sumner from the camera club.

Jill is a keen photographer, using her new Panasonic G1 to create stunning landscape, cityscape  and nature images.

Pete...

Pete is the Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP). But wait...before you jump to conclusions this does not mean Pete is a Professional Photographer.. although he likes to kid himself by pretending he is from time to time...No, Pete remains a keen amateur photographer, but a professional business manager, managing the challenge of running Australia's largest professional photographic institute.

Like Jill, Pete is a member of Waverley Camera Club.  Pete shares the same group of friends as Jill and is equally a keen photographer, using his Canon 5D mark2 to create any image that takes his fancy!

When not working (which is most of the time!) or attending various camera club functions, like Jill, Pete spends her time out with friends, taking photographs, attending concerts, walking and eating out, Unlike Jill, Pete is a keen exerciser, regularly swimming and playing tennis.

Pete is also a keen videographer and now uses his canon 5D mark 2 to take High Definition video footage of the fantastic Australian scenery.

Being an Englishman abroad, Pete is still keen on English soccer, constantly following the fortunes of his two favourite teams, Burnley FC and Bolton Wanderers FC.
